Electiric scooter companies like Bird and Lime are facing a new unexpected problem: many of their scooters are thrown into lakes and rivers without any known reason. Besides the financial cost to the operators, the scooters' rechargeable lithium-ion batteries contain nickel that can be dangerous pollutant for aquatic life.

A couple of conclusions from this article:

  • Never go into a room with 50 cameras pointing at you, as then someone can break into your phone with facial recognition :)
  • The technology of Apple is much more advanced and not just a gimmick (and Microsoft as well)

We 3D printed a head and used it to unlock four Android devices. Apple and Microsoft devices weren’t fooled, though.

Arizona Republic reporter followed Waymo autonomous cars for more than 170 miles to see how these cars drive in real world conditions. Very interesting to watch a real non PR video on such projects.

We followed a Waymo self-driving car for miles, here's what we saw

attachment-img

We wanted to see how Waymo cars drive in real-world conditions, so we followed the cars for more than 170 miles over a few days. Do they change lanes like human drivers? What happens if they approach an accident? Would you be annoyed by a self-driving car in traffic? Watch to find out. As part of Google's startegy to expand its consumer-facing product line in India ??, it launched an on-demand app and a mobile payment service last year, and this year it released a neighborhood Q&A service. The Where is my Train deal certainly fits that strategy and you’d imagine it’ll become a core part of Google’s consumer-facing product line in India.

Waymo will invite Phoenix residents who are part of its early riders program to use an app to hail a self-driving taxi vehicle. The lucky testers will be able to bring friends and family with them. The service will operate 24/7 but will be limited to some specific neighborhoods.

Introducing Waymo One, the fully self-driving service

Until today you could not create a feature that competes with Facebook if you are using their API. This was also the (legal) reason for Facebook to cut off some pretty successful apps in the past (though they chose when and where to force it; i.e., simply to kill the competition). Facebook ends platform policy banning apps that copy its features

Facebook will now freely allow developers to build competitors to its features upon its own platform. Today Facebook announced it will drop Platform Policy section 4.1, which stipulates “Add something unique to the community. Don’t replicate core functionality that Facebook already provides.” Faceb…
